Public Profile
With the declared objective of achieving the necessary price-point for hydrogen in a low-carbon future, EvolOH is developing a novel Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) electrolyzer - a proprietary approach designed to enable a highly-scalable, solid-state device using earth-abundant materials to split pure water into oxygen and hydrogen without the need for caustic liquid electrolytes. Using renewable energy and water to produce Green Energy has the potential of eliminating gigatons of CO2 per year for hard-to-abate sectors: heavy-duty trucks, shipping, airplanes, fertilizer and steel production, industrial heat, and long-duration energy storage. With One dollar per kilogram the tipping point for widespread adoption of hydrogen as a carbon-free, portable energy carrier in these and other energy sectors worldwide. EvolOHs innovative materials and design enable high-speed manufacturing, increased lifetime and improved efficiency compared to current technologies - potentially transformative in the taskof achieving the necessary price-point for hydrogen in a low-carbon future. In 2021, the firm's Founder, Dr. Jimmy Rojas, and Scott Blanchet, EvolOHs COO, become Breakthrough Energy Fellows (Established in 2015 by Bill Gates and a coalition of private investors concerned about the impacts of accelerating climate change, Breakthrough Energy supports the innovations that will lead the world to net-zero emissions). It was reported by Evoloh that the associated funds would be used to continue development and scale-up of the firm's electrolyzer.
