Reservoir Labs, the University of California, Merced, and Prof. Eric Darve and Prof. George Papanicolaou (Stanford University) propose GEO-M2M (GEOmaterials; Microstructure To Macroscopic), an STTR effort that will develop, implement and deploy computational tools for simulating and predicting the 3D bulk electromagnetic response of geomaterials to remote sensing modalities from microstructural information. With a focus on concrete, GEO-M2M will develop high-performance simulation tools and algorithms for broader and more accurate geomaterial characterization at lower cost (time, low-SWAP) than existing techniques. GEO-M2M’s increased accuracy and performance in characterization will have a direct impact on the establishment of weapon efficiency/penetration for combat purposes, where better models are needed to more rapidly predict physical properties using remote sensing. GEO-M2M will also lead to a measurable impact on maintaining the safety and improving combat capabilities of US Armed Forces
