Ostendo develops next generation Solid State Lighting (SSL)-based display technologies and products for commercial and consumer markets wmploying the firm's enabling technologies to support products that are disruptive in their individual marketplaces. Later focusing on its miniature holographic projector intended for mobile devices, the idea was that the small device would be able to project 3d images. With its proprietary GaN technology, the firm was positioned to become a key supplier of this unique materia having potential use and benefits in a range of merging markets from Solid State Light devices to Solar Cells in the commercial and government markets. The unique aspects of GaN allow potential customers to create higher efficiency Light Emitting Diode (LED) and Laser Diode (LD) products with higher brightness and lower power while lowering their overall cost. Witht wo very large DOD contracts awarded, the smaller SBIR dollars of no major consequnce.
