This project team isstructured around developing low-cost, durable particles to transfer heat in a concentrating solar-thermal power system integrated with thermal energy storage. With the cost target being around 5 cents per kilogram, the team are addressing demonstration of the particlesÂ’ durability at 1,000 degrees Celsius, and outline the preliminary design and cost of installation. This project is designed to reduce the cost of particles to lower the levelized cost of energy.
