Colorado Engineering Inc (CEI), in partnership with Krypton Solutions, is poised to provide the Navy and Marine Corps the ability to push the technological envelope with its solutions and manufacturing partners. CEI has experience working with the military, including the Navy and the Marine Corps, to develop long-range, high-performance, and technologically advanced Radio Frequency (RF) sensor solutions. Krypton provides high speed, precision assembly of all types of printed circuit boards and specializes in quick turn manufacturing services where reduced time-to-market is essential to the customer. CEI will demonstrate its DREX+ as a manufacturable, deployable sensor that can be utilized on various systems compatible with Maritime Patrol Reconnaissance Aircraft (MPRA), Cruisers/Destroyers (CRUDES), Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) or SSN platforms as well as deployment from platforms of opportunity due its modularity, portability, and expandability. CEI will also work with Krypton to develop a plan for the manufacturability and sustainability of the DREX+ system focused on increased quality, reliability, and reduced ownership cost.
Benefit: The market for the proposed DREX+ technology spans multi-domain, domestic and international defense and civil agencies, with application to both emerging systems and to the refresh/modernization of existing ones. As described above, an acute need for the subject technology is a refresh of the Navys AN/SPS-49 surface ship air-surveillance radar. The SPS-49 is projected to be in service through 2050 and is currently suffering from diminishing manufacturing sources and OEM abandonment which is stressing maintenance logistics, sustainment expenditures, and system availability. CEI intends to make the necessary modifications to the DREX+ system to ensure that it not only meets government requirements but also meet current and future commercial market demands.
