Team Alpha-1 offers a revolutionary, dual-purpose technology for video and data analysis, well suited for the Commercial General Aviation (GA) Sector and the DoD Joint Force’s hyper-enabled operator. Our DoD-secure, web-enabled Aviation Video Analysis Technology (AVAT) software will radically improve the post-mission debrief process by increasing the speed and quality of data obtained from existing Mission Design Series (MDS) aircraft video files, providing the user with highly-focused visual feedback and mission data. Currently, the USAF and DoD lack any technology or formal process, or capability to identify, compile, or analyze individual video segments or associated data for discussion and feedback. With AVAT, training and mission debriefs will be more focused and better organized, with key video segments properly tagged and critical execution errors accurately identified. The result is unmistakable – learning is enhanced, training times are shortened and critical mission data is captured, ultimately providing the user with objective visual feedback for the formation of concrete lessons learned. Since 2017, Alpha-1 Aerospace, LLC has provided Aircrew Qualification Training for the USAF and US Army, along with Adversary Aircraft Support Services. In this role, we have identified several areas that we believe would be significantly improved through the integration of video and data analysis technology: Currently, key performance information is manually extrapolated from existing video through an exhaustive review process. The video review is lengthy, causing delays in the provision of feedback within the mission debrief and often misses key aspects of the trainee/team performance. The time delay and current lack of interactive digital video review capability means the benefits for learning are being impacted/diluted. There is no effective method in place to aid the identification, categorization and prioritization of key elements of the mission video. The opportunity to utilize crucial performance data to aid the development/training process is being underutilized. Significant amounts of performance-related data are currently being generated but no process exists which allows this data to be automatically categorized and organized for the purpose of trend analysis, meaning key aspects of performance are likely being missed. Our aim is to harness the core video and data analysis technology currently utilized to maximize athlete performance within the elite/professional level sports communities, and focus it to enhance the efficiency, quality and speed of the aircrew debrief process.
