Within Air Force, the safety of the warfighter and maintaining a technological advantage is paramount. Having the highest performing technology will increase odds of a successful and safe mission. Several Air Force missions (ex., eVTOL, SmallSats) are requiring unique power sources operating with higher energy, higher power, wider operation temperature, and higher safety requirements. South 8’s technology operates over essentially any climate in the globe; from the hottest environment in the Sahara to the coldest depths of Siberia, the warfighter can depend on South 8’s Liquefied Gas Electrolyte (LiGas) based cells to operate continuously and deliver on mission needs. This new chemistry will enable cross-functional platforms with high energy batteries, high power capacitors, ultra-low temperature primary cells, and more. The chemistry has been demonstrated and this project will focus on packaging these chemistries into a safe 18650 cell format for Air Force, Defense, and wider commercial applications.
