Transcend Air Corp develops VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircrafts that are three times faster than helicopters, have half the operating costs, and are safer. The company's most recent aircraft, Vy 400, is the result of 15 prototypes of VTOLs and offers space for 4-5 passengers and the ability to travel from Manhattan to Boston in 36 minutes. This solution is targeted for both civil and military applications, offering improved efficiency over helicopters while flying as fast as a jet. Perhaps as (more) important(ly), it should be noted that VTOL stands for Vertical Take Off and Landing - and means just that. Transcend Air Corporation takes off and lands straight up and down. No need for runways and airports: able to depart and arrive right in major city centers. Anticipated service launch: 2025 between some 40-50 city center pairs in the US where Transcent air service will be less expensive and five times faster than existing airline service.
