Drawing down on extensive biotechnology industry expertise, Granite Point Ventures functions primarily as a Business consulting firm that is not a typical small business science and technology endeavor. With this SBIR funded project, the principals of Granite Point Ventures are defined as providing strategic direction to the US Department of Agriculture Bee Research Lab to develop investable thesis, business model, and seed funds for honey bee medical diagnostics and therapy. The data suggests that more that 50 percent of US honey bee colonies perish every year due to bacteria, fungi, and virus diseases. This high mortality rate has signifiant adverse impact on effective pollination of an estamated $20B of almonds, blueberries, cherries, apples, cranberries, melons and broccoli.
