Spun out of research conducted at the University of Maryland, IGI Technologies is an emerging startup developing high-speed 3D medical image registration technology. Medical images taken of the same patient but on different equipment or at different times are difficult to overlay due to changes in the body from breathing, position, or morphology. The firm's technology is designed to correct these misalignments automatically and on-demand. The technology has applications in radiation oncology, augmented reality in laparoscopic surgeries, interventional radiology, and diagnostic radiology.
