Public Profile
Nanocomp Technologies Inc (NCTI), was formed as a spin-out of Synergy Innovations, Inc., itself an SBIR involved firm. Nanocomp develops and produces energy saving performance materials, electro-thermal devices, and component products made from carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The firm fabricate CNTs into electro-thermally conductive sheets, tapes, wires, and yarns. Products are used in structural materials for armor protection for military and police forces; and structural components that reduce weight and vibration in aerospace, automotive, and consumer electronics applications. Nanocomp products are also used in electrically conductive materials as replacement for copper wires; shielding for electro-magnetic interference; and non-metallic electrodes for lithium and other batteries. In addition, the company's products are used in thermal management materials, such as heaters for aerospace and automotive; thermal transfer solutions for space and aviation; de-icing for aerospace; and fire retardant materials. Further, its products are used in multi-functional materials, including CNT-based airplane wings with an exterior layer that de-ices and manages LSP; and smart phone cases. The company's technology has been described by senior personnel of the Department of Defense as "critical for national defense".
