Public Profile
In 2006, Digital Optics was acquired in an amost entirely cash transaction by Tessera Technologies Inc. Founded ut of Unversity of North Carolina, Digital Optics had been using wafer-based manufacturing processes, analogous to integrated circuit manufacturing, to built an integrated micro-optical systems - a process adding improved functionality and reduced complexity to the creation of all-optical systems. Integrated Micro-Optical Systems (IMOS) could be used to build a wide range of modules and components, including collimated arrays for optical switching, integrated wavelockers for DWDM, transceivers and dispersion/compensator chips. The firm . A complete solutions provider with manufacturing infrastructure and additional outsourcing, applications include optics and optical subassemblies for data storage, communications, semiconductor equipment, bar-code scanning, consumer applications; and sensors for aerospace, medical, automotive and military.
