Public Profile

Vadum Inc is a systems engineering and design company providing complete RF and microwave solutions to the defense, law enforcement, and commercial communities. The firm specializes in custom measurement instruments, characterization systems and man/vehicle portable platforms, with additional experience in electrical engineering, chemistry, physics, materials science, mechanical engineering, computer science, optics, lasers, and medical technologies. The firm has developed a sophisticated modeling and simulation system that is able to accurately reflect the design/details of an electronic warfare (EW) system. Modern EW systems are designed to operate in a low probability of detection, low probability of intercept and high interference environment. Validating technology and methods for war-fighters requires a high fidelity, physics-based test environment that accurately represents the RF propagation domain, time domain behavior, precise electronic attack techniques and physical layer functionality of both EW equipment and threats. Vadum’s Digital Test Bed (DTB) provides this environment by performing waveform level estimation of the effectiveness of EW equipment, supporting R&D, acquisition, testing, system engineering, and tactics, techniques and procedures. Beyond the virtual environment, the DTB readily integrates the hardware-in-the loop systems for real-time force training or simulations where regulatory restrictions preclude open air testing. In the area of Transceiver Detection technology, Vadum’s SATRX system is able to “look” at the electromagnetic spectrum and detect unintentional radiated signals generated from transceivers. By utilizing this sensor system, Vadum can detect contraband cell phones and other devices capable of transmitting and receiving RF signals. This novel approach to detecting RF devices can detect both powered-on and powered-off devices.
