American BioOptics is a medical device company developing innovative diagnostic tools to identify patients at a high risk for colorectal cancer based upon a suite of pioneering optical technologies, including four-dimensional elastic light-scattering fingerprinting. Based on Northwestern University and NorthShore University HealthSystem patented technology, technology is now harnessed in a commercial-ready mobile instrumentation system and sensitive, easy-to-use, minimally invasive test for screening gastrointestinal cancers. Sgnificant levelsof grant funding and strategic investment has resulted in clinical validation of the screening test in over 1000 patients and over 30 scientific papers published in respected journals. The firm also sold certain assets to an undisclosed Global Medical Device company.
