In June 2021, it was announced that Amazon Web Services (AWS) had acquired secure messaging service Wickr for an undisclosed amount. The apparantly somewhat out-of-the-blue acquisition is discussed as appearing to be part of AWS movement towards promoting the larger firm's services into the public and military sectors. AWS indicated that Wickr services to existing clients will continue unchanged. Wickr had functioinged as a no-cost top-secret messaging app allowing users to send and receive top-secret messages, pictures, videos, audios, and files. Wickr Inc. provides products to ensure secure communications, with the aim of helping companies and organizations protect valuable, high-target communications. All of the firm's products come with, but are not limited to, the core capability features: Secure Messaging, Security (D2D*), Ephemerality Settings, Screenshot Detection (Mobile), Groups, @mentions, Federation (Cross Network and Multi-Network Communication), Data Shredder, Key Verification, Voice, and Video (Pro and Enterprise), Secure File Transfer (Photos, Video & Files). The company's secure ephemeral collaboration tools empower businesses and end-users to ensure that no sensitive conversation remains accessible beyond its useful life and intended audience. In
