Rsearchers at Standford University and at the startup Nanotools Bioscience have come together to create a nanoparticle that only blocks the extra NMDA. NMDA is a brain receptor known as N-mythyl-D-aspartate, which in excess is the leading cause to many neurological problems. Savchenko and Molokanova cretaed the particle using gold, memantine, polyethylene glycol, and antifreeze.
