VisuGen Global, LLC is commercializing new at-point-of-use capability to enable the detection of genes (molecular detection). The irm is working on providing a rapid on-site method to detect microbial contaminants in water, advancing a new proprietary approach to detect microbial contaminants starting with 100 milliliters water. The product could enable real time on-site sensing for local and remote environmental water contamination using internet-enabled smart devices to detect and enable real-time local mitigation of microbial contamination that could have public health impact. Clean water is critical to major economic sectors such as farm irrigation, livestock, food processing, and recreation. A more rapid on-site monitoring method would be of use to water microbiology researchers, for regulatory mandated monitoring, and for more immediate determination of the potential public health risk of recreational water use or following floods or extreme precipitation. The approach targets specific genes that enable high sensitivity detection.
