Spin-out of Artann Laboratories - itself an active SBIR awardee thatis also VC funded - Advanced Tactile Imaging, Inc. is a medical device firm founded and operated by a team of professionals with expertise in the diverse areas of biomechanics, medicine, biomedical engineering and medical device manufacturing. Building out from the groundwork laid by the parent firm in the development of tactile imaging technology -- a medical imaging modality that translates the sense of touch into a digital image. With strong underlying IP, the firm is working on a Vaginal Tactile Imager - a platform capability designed to to aid in diagnosis and evaluation of vaginal and pelvic floor conditions. Using their systems to image tissue elasticity -- highly sensitive to changes of physiological and pathological conditions -- the approach is enabling useful assessment of pelvic floor ligaments and muscles. The target population includes adults with pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain and vaginal atrophy offering relevant capabilites in Urogynecology, Physiotherapy Gynecology and Obstetrics
