In an all-cash purchase, in October 2018, HyperBranch Medical Technology, Inc., a medical device company, was acquired by Stryker. The firm is organized around development and marketing of products primarily for the traumatic or surgically induced wound market. HyperBranch develops medical devices based on its proprietary polymers and cross-linked hydrogels. Its Adherus AutoSpray Dural Sealant product, for example, is one of only two FDA-approved dural sealants on the market: a synthetic, absorbable, two-component dural sealant indicated for use in patients who are thirteen years of age and older, as an adjunct to standard methods of dural repair, such as sutures, to provide watertight closure during cranial procedures. The firm's products ar sold sells through a network of distributors internationally.
