The firms core photonic integrated circuit technology is based around 3 integration platforms: compound semiconductor (InP, GaAs), Silicon-Germanium CMOS and planar lightwave waveguide platform. Through vertical integration, these custom PICs become engines of optical modules and subsystems, which include in-house implementation of electronic control, drive circuitry and system integration. The firm's proprietary photonic integration platforms can accommodate a variety of building blocks, including: Active and passive planar waveguide components; Widely tunable lasers; High speed modulators (lumped and traveling wave); Semiconductor optical amplifiers (high gain and/or high power); Photodetectors; Mode coverters; High speed switches; and Multiplexer/demultiplexers.
