The word âserotinyâ means the ecological adaptation by some plants to have their seeds germinate upon a particular environmental trigger; an example would be fire. Currently resident in the JLab San Francisco, Serotiny is structured digitally to encode natureâs features and functions into a biologically aware API for the high-throughput, rational design of multi-domain synthetic proteins. The premise is that by coupling state-of-the-art mammalian synthetic biology and a finely-tuned software architecture, and in partnership with leaders in the field, Serotiny can tackle design of custom proteins with cutting edge capabilities including treatment of cancers and genetic disorders. The objective is to make better therapies and tools by designing multi-domain proteins with novel functionality: tailoring protein designs for unique demands including treatment of cancers and genetic disorders. The approach has to potential to give proteins wholly new functions for more effective, safer, and customized ther
