With close ties to Northeastern University with which some of the principals of the firm are closely connected, Nueorfieldz Inc is structured around detection methods for neuro-visual disorders such as glaucoma, traumatic brain injury, and multiple sclerosis are immobile, subjective, and time-intensive. The firm is addressing commercialization of an Electric Field Encephalography (EFEG) brainwave monitoring technology developed at Northeastern and has designed NeuroDotVR, a portable, easy-to-use device capable of objectively monitoring brain activity in minutes - effectively measuring the electric fields produced by brain activity. EFEG has several advantages over electroencephalography (EEG), which measures scalp electric potentials not electric fields, and magnetoencephalography (MEG), which measures magnetic fields. Compared with EEG, EFEG is local and reference-less, has higher spatial resolution, does not require Laplacian interpolation, leads to increased number of uncorrelated signals, and improves source reconstruction precision
