Woods Hole Group is an international eoceanographic, environmental, scientific, and engineering consulting organization addrssing problems affecting the marine environment throughout the world. In Februart 2017, it was announced that CLS, the French satellite business backed by Ardian, was to acquire Woods Hole Group. CLS was founded in 1986 by the CNES and Ifremer to operate the ARGOS data collection and location system, responsible for protecting the environment and monitoring the development of oceans. The firm has a workforce of 650 employees working in sustainable fishing management, environmental monitoring, maritime safety, fleet management, energy and mines and ground segments.
