npgCampbell, California (May 14, 2014) -- AOptix (www.aoptix.com), a pioneer in ultra-high capacity wireless communications, is pleased to announce that its Intellimax product has been selected as a finalist in the 9th annual 2014 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards in the "innovations in mobile and wireless" category by Network Products Guide. These industry and peer awards from Network Products Guide are the world's premier information technology awards honoring achievements and recognitions in every facet of the IT industry. Winners will be honored in San Francisco on Monday, June 23, 2014, during the 9th annual dinner and presentations.

AOptix Intellimax is a high-capacity wireless transport product that delivers fiberlike performance, offering the greatest bandwidth of any wireless networking technology on the market. It's the first fully integrated hybrid solution capable of delivering carrier-grade availability and 2 Gbps constant data rate at distances up to 10 kilometers in a single hop, or unlimited distances in a repeater configuration.

The first Composite Optical-RF product on the market, Intellimax leverages three proprietary technologies to achieve its unique capabilities:

Advanced Wavelength Diversity (AWD), which enables simultaneous delivery of redundant data over wireless optical and millimeter wave radio. These two technologies complement each other to allow operation in all weather conditions including fog, rain and snowstorms.
Active Beam Steering (ABS), which allows for real-time automated steering of Intellimax optical and RF beams. This technology enables instant link alignment and compensates for plus or minus three degrees of tower twist and sway caused by conditions such as heavy wind, sun, and ice and snow build up.
Point, Acquire and Track (PAT), automates link alignment within minutes. PAT simplifies installation and alignment with precision accuracy, repeatable results and verified performance, significantly reducing the cost of deployment.

"AOptix Intellimax provides the first true alternative to fiber in locations or environments where fiber is impractical or impossible to install. It also solves the shortcomings of existing wireless technologies that can't provide the bandwidth, availability or range Intellimax delivers," said Christina Richards, Vice President, Marketing, AOptix. "The technology is truly game-changing and opens up vast new market opportunities for network providers and enterprises. We're pleased that Network Products Guide has chosen Intellimax as a finalist."

In November 2013, AOptix Intellimax became generally available worldwide for a range of wireless applications, including mobile backhaul, enterprise access, and low latency networks. The product is currently in field trials with tier-one carriers, and AOptix's partner Anova Technologies has begun construction on the first Intellimax ULL-3000 path for financial markets in the New York/New Jersey metro area.
