BRT Laboratories, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Baltimore Rh Typing Laboratory. The Baltimore Rh Typing Laboratory was established in 1945 as a 501(c)3 non-profit institution. Its mission was to provide counseling, education, and research for women of child bearing age who were diagnosed as Rh negative - called Rh disease at the time. In April 2000, BRT Laboratories, Inc. was established as an independent "C" corporation for continuing the testing and service activities so that the "Rh Lab" could focus on its original mission of outreach, education, and research. Current core activities for BRT Laboratories, Inc., include: DNA genetic testing, forensics, apheresis, and the collection of human blood cells for research.
