Public Profile

Bluegrass Advanced Materials, LLC ("BAM") is developing novel antioxidant polymers for pharmaceutical, medical device and cosmetic applications. The firm's core technology is amendable to a wide range of antioxidants and other hydroxyl containing active ingredients used in personal care and pharmaceutical products. BAM’s polymers protect the active ingredient from environmental insult by embedding it into the backbone of the polymer network. The ingredient is slowly release in its pure form, effectively delivering the benefits of the ingredient over a time period customizable to the specific product’s goals. The firm's smart flocculant technology is a cutting edge solution for dewatering. The flocculant removes suspended contamination from water within minutes, leaving a condensed pellet with minimal water content. Bluegrass Advanced Materials (BAM) is also developing EnviroFloc, a smart flocculant system proposed to easily remove per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from drinking water and wastewater effluents, minimizing settling times and the limited regeneration ability found in current flocculant technology. The novelty of the EnviroFloc is that it combines a thermoresponsive compound (N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm)) with cationic and fluorinated co-monomers, dimethylaminoethyl acrylate (DMAEA), trifluoroethyl acrylate (TFEA) and dodecafluoroheptyl acrylate (DDFHA), respective
