The University of Alabama at Birmingham's Research Foundation has entered into an agreement with BioElectroSpec Inc. to license a biosensor technology developed at the university in collaboration with researchers at Mississippi State University.
The patented technology provides an improved method for investigating interactions between biomolecules, which could prove valuable for drug discovery and design by helping identify the best binding sites for a drug candidate to adhere to a disease target.
Delaware-based BioElectroSpec plans to include the UAB-Mississippi State biosensor technology in its current and future equipment and hopes to market the products to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies as well as academic research institutions.
