Public Profile
Advanced Ceramic Fibers (ACF) is a producer of high performance, lower cost alpha silicon carbide/carbon (a-SiC/C) fibers for use in specialty applications/metal and ceramic matrix composites. ACF produces a unique alpha silicon carbide/carbon fiber (a-SiC/C) with superior performance characteristics and can be used as a reinforcing material in metals, such as steel, aluminum, titanium, copper, and associated alloys. Â After the a-SiC/C fiber is incorporated into a metal or ceramic composite the material characteristics of the base material are significantly enhanced. The now reinforced material has a higher strength-to-weight ratio, is more heat resistant (a use temperature of 4,000 degrees F), and is less vulnerable to fatigue, stress, corrosion, impact and even radiation environments. This technology has applications in infrastructure, transportation, energy, aerospace, and defense.Â
