Public Profile
Boston Applied Technologies Incorporated (BATI) was formed by key management and technical team formerly with Corning Applied Technologies. Corning Applied was itself the new name for what had formerly been NZ Applied Technologies, a very active SBIR firm acquired by Corning. The firm was created with the intent to develop and manufacture novel materials-based devices for emerging photonic/electronic markets. BATi's basic technology (Materials Development Group) includes OptoCeramic materials in bulk and thin-film forms, both for solid-state light controlling devices. BATi's Photonics Group combines expertise in optics, fiber optics, and packaging to produce low cost and high performance photonic products for applications ranging from fiber optic communications to optical sensors and instrumentation. Besides its materials and photonic business, BATi has since 2007 strongly engaged in imaging and astronomical industries through its subsidiaries, iOptron Corporation (USA) and iOptron Scientific (China).
