BOULDER, COLORADO, June 28, 2011 -- Siva Therapeutics announced today signing of a broad license agreement with NanoRods LLC for the use of gold nanorods in cancer therapy. As part of the agreement, Siva will gain an exclusive license, for applications in cancer therapy, to NanoRods' strong and growing patent portfolio.NanoRods has developed unique technologies and intellectual property for the practical manufacture, purification and surface modification of gold nanorods.
"This license agreement and close collaboration with NanoRods will give Siva access to the best gold nanorod technology available today," said Len Pagliaro, PhD, CEO of Siva. "In addition, our business partnership is designed to enable Siva and NanoRods to jointly develop even better nanorod materials and production technologies than we have at present."
The scientific foundation of NanoRods LLC is built on many of the key scientific publications in the field of nanorod and nanoparticles technology, and new R&D continues. Elements of the license agreement include equity, cash payment, and FTE support.
