Phoenix Science & Technology Inc. of Chelmsford has been awarded a $15 million Phase III Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Program contract for further development of pulsed light and acoustic devices for the U.S. Navy.
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in New Jersey has awarded Phoenix the contract.
Phoenix is making the pulse light products for ultraviolet water treatment and for paint stripping of naval vessels. The pulsed acoustic devices are used in submarine countermeasures, and other applications.
The contract calls for research and development, prototype development and fabrication, manufacturing, retrofitting developed products into existing air and sea-based platforms and in-service engineering.
