Micromolding specialist Makuta Technics of Shelbyville, Ind., has developed a micro-injection molded tip for use on an embryo manipulation tool dubbed the "Dracula pipette."

At Plastics in Medical Devices, Makuta President Stu Kaplan will co-present with Dr. Paul Taylor of GeneSearch Inc., "How Dracula Reinvented Biopsy and Freezing of Early Embryos: The Design & Development of the Micromolded Dracula Suck-and-Puncture Tip."

GeneSearch, of Bozeman, Montana, is a private research laboratory directed by Taylor that has invented the Dracula pipette for clinical applications. The National Institutes of Health recognized the device for its potential to revolutionize the science of embryology. NIH classifies the project as a high priority.

This fourth annual PMD conference will take place May 13-15 at the Westin Waltham Boston in Waltham, Mass. Visit www.plasticsnews.com/pmd2013 for details.
