TKO Enterprises, Inc. announced it has completed the first sale and commercial deployment of the Goose Guardian, a revolutionary Canada goose deterrent. The Goose Guardian uses an image recognition sensor to detect the presence of Canada geese, and then triggers an integrated humane hazing device to scare the geese away, protecting areas from being fouled by goose droppings. TKO installed its first sale of the Goose Guardian at Fort Logan National Cemetery, part of the US Department of Veterans Affairs, locate d in Denver, Colorado. Fort Logan participated in a 45 day pilot program last spring to test the product (http://www.gooseguardian.com/images/general/ft-logan-case-study.pdf ).

Fort Logan purchased six (6) units in February 2012, and deployed them in four (4) locations throughout the cemetery grounds to protect ceremonial areas and travel corridor s that are regularly soiled by goose droppings.

The Goose Guardian only triggers its integrated hazing device when the image recognition sensor has detected the approach of Canada geese. The birds then associate their behavior with the hazing scare tactic (a combination of noise and motion). This is the same animal behavior control principle used to housebreak a dog, for example, and the technique provides long-term effectiveness. "This is the first of its kind application of technology for wildlife nuisance management and has proven to be effective in flight-pen testing conducted by the USDA's National Wildlife Research Center and numerous field tests," states Neil McClure, CEO of TKO Enterprises. McClure states the company is pursuing other animal nuisance management opportunities such as wild pigs, turkeys, and white-tailed deer.

The Goose Guardian effectively prevents geese from trespassing into areas where their dropping cause a nuisance. Grassy areas adjacent to water features, sidewalk s, docks, or areas where geese habitually gather and loaf are all examples of locations where the Goose Guardian will have a significant impact on the aesthetic quality of the area. Unlike using dogs as a hazing deterrent, where a handler must be present, or using repeated application of expensive, ineffective chemicals, the humane Goose Guardian operates unattended and keeps a constant vigil for animal pests.
