Romeoville, IL—June 29, 2011—Advanced Diamond Technologies (ADT), the world leader in developing
diamond films for industrial, electronic, and medical product applications, wins the prestigious R&D 100
Award for a third time. ADT's latest award is for its Integrated RF MEMS Switch/CMOS Device.
Receiving this mark of excellence deems the Integrated RF MEMS Switch/CMOS Device as one of the,
"most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace over the past year," by R&D
Magazine.
"We've won R&D 100 Awards in three of the four years we've been shipping commercial products," said
Dr. John Carlisle, ADT's co-founder and chief technical officer. "This is a great testimony to the caliber of
our team and it's an honor to be recognized as an innovative company for our groundbreaking family of
products."
"The R&D 100 Awards honor the latest technology developments that are designed to meet societal,
scientific, or business challenges facing us today—and tomorrow," said Rita Peters, R&D Magazine's
editorial director. Eventually these devices may find their way into phased-array radar and mobile
communication applications.
"Historically, RF MEMS AC switches last only a few million switching cycles before failing. ADT's UNCD
technology greatly improves reliability while retaining the CMOS-compatibility of the overall process flow,
exhibiting very low insertion loss, and lasting over ten billion switching cycles without failure," said Dr.
Hongjun Zeng, ADT's lead scientist on this initiative. "This advancement enables the next generation of
cell phone technology with faster data transfer rates while reducing the manufacturing costs through
mass-production scaling."
