WASHINGTON, October 9, 2013: Voxiva, Inc., a pioneer in interactive mobile health programs, announces that members of Moda Health are now able to enroll in the Care4life(SM) personalized diabetes self-management program. The program uses text messages, a personal online web portal and a mobile website to connect, engage and support people living with diabetes. Care4life content was developed in collaboration with the American Diabetes Association, and combines the best in diabetes education with proven evidence-based behavior change techniques.
"At Moda Health we have a history of partnering with our members to help them improve their health. We focus on proven, innovative, evidence-based programs. Care4life meets those requirements and strongly aligns with our vision and hopes to help all members have the best health possible." says Robin Richardson, Senior Vice President, Moda Health.
Care4life provides education, medication and appointment reminders, weight/exercise goal setting and tracking, and blood glucose tracking; with motivation and support provided by a virtual coach. Care4life also contains information from American Diabetes Association publications including healthy recipes, nutrition tips, and information on disease management. Along with increases in medication adherence, appointment attendance and weight loss, Care4life participants become more knowledgeable, confident and effective in managing their diabetes.
"Moda Health is committed to improving member health by providing the most innovative tools and resources available. Care4life supports this goal by using an evidence-based and personalized approach to improve the quality of life for people with type 2 diabetes." says Voxiva CEO, Justin Sims.
Surveys of Care4life participants have shown impressive levels of engagement and satisfaction:
97% would recommend Care4life to other people with diabetes
86% said it helped them set health goals and work toward achieving them
85% reported improved knowledge of diabetes and how to manage their condition
85% said it helped them remember to take medications and attend doctors' appointments
In addition, clinical study results measuring the effectiveness of the Care4life personalized support program are expected to be published in the coming months.
Care4life's text messages were developed by Theresa Garnero, APRN, BC-ADM, MSN, CDE, author of the American Diabetes Association book, Your First Year With Diabetes, and 2004 AADE Diabetes Educator of the Year. "It is the daily reinforcement of desired behavior that's so unique about Care4life," says Garnero. "Interactive text messaging, combined with an online log that is built one text message at a time, will reinforce the guidance provided by the patient's educator and care team."
