In February 2014, in an all cash deal Nitronex was acquired by M/A-Com Technology Solutions (NASDAQ:MTSI) of Lowell MA. Nitronex Corporation specializes in the development and manufacturing of gallium nitride-on-silicon (GaN-on-Si) RF power devices with a focus on high-performance GaN-on-Si RF power devices combining the disciplines of material growth, wafer processing, device design and wireless applications. Operating in both the commercial and military communications markets, the company's products include broadband/general purpose power transistors, GaN RF MMICs, 1.8-3.0 GHz RF power transistors, and 3.0-6.0 GHz RF power transistors. Its products are used to meet the power, frequency, and bandwidth requirements in WiMAX, broadband, and cellular markets. In 2012, Nitronex was acquired by Gaas Labs, LLC is a private investment fund targeting the communications semiconductor market and focused on providing the financing and operational expertise necessary to help grow the next generation of world-class semiconductor companies. Led by John Ocampo, co-founder of Sirenza Microdevices (acquired by RF Microdevices, Inc.), the Gaas Labs team has extensive experience and a proven track record of success in developing and supplying high performance semiconductors and related devices for RF, microwave and related applications in commercial communications, satellite and defense-related markets worldwide.
