The objective of this research proposal is to develop innovative analysis tools for the design and optimization of Ka through W band radar systems for rotorcraft piloting in adverse environments. The analysis tools will facilitate the design of sensors to support the safe approach and landing of rotorcraft during brownout, whiteout, and sea spray as well as improved safety for night and no/low visibility, low altitude pilotage.
Benefit: The main objective of this proposal is to develop, implement and verify a NURBS-based frequency domain hybrid MoM-PO method. This includes the development of theory and mathematical formulations for near-field computations in the NURBS-based MoM-PO method. In the Phase I effort, the focus is on developing and testing a prototype code to determine the feasibility of the proposed solution to address the problem of rotorcraft in brownout environment modeling and analysis. The deliverable of the Phase I effort is to demonstrate the capability of the proposed modeling and computational method.
