In Sept 2002, Cytologix was acquired by the Danish firm DakoCytomation. Though maintain facilities in the US, the fim's HQ is now in Denmark. CytoLogix has developed tissue staining instrument used in pathology labs for cancer diagnosis. According to terms of the agreement, DakoCytomation assumed all rights to the product as well as responsibility for continued technical support and customer service. DakoCytomation US has retained the CytoLogix facility in Cambridge for ongoing product development and for customer training and support on the East Coast. CytoLogix develops and commercializes systems for the automation of slide-based cellular diagnostics. The company's first product automates the application of histochemical and immunohistochemical stains to tissue specimens destined for microscopic analysis. The instrument employs a patented technology that creates a reaction chamber on a microscope slide and will allow for eventual use molecular (ISH) stains. The firm is an innovator in laboratory technology for histology, molecular diagnostics and genomics. Its Artisan(R) instrument and reagent system automates complex staining processes for pathology laboratories. The Artisan instrument is the first slide-staining instrument to use individual slide heating, a technology that facilitates superior staining quality.
